#CharityCalendar – What’s it all about?
For those of you who maybe follow me on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram primarily – you may have seen me using the hashtag #charitycalendar – either on my Fairbrother Photography handles, or my personal handles (Mike Fairbrother or M1keFairbrother on Twitter).
So, what’s it all about?
It’s simple really. I’ve always had a bit of a vision of doing something regularly for charity, which is 100% cost-free so that 100% of the profits can go directly to the chosen charity.
My first calendar will be for a 2020, hopefully, however – I plan to try and do one each year at least for the three years which follow (2021, 2022, 2023) and chose a different charity each year. In 2020, the charity I have chosen is the Great North Air Ambulance, a charity which I am sure you know, operates a life-saving helicopter. The charity will feature images taken with a variety of tech, from a Canon 5D Mark IV to a smartphone and hopefully, to an action camera and drone – which would be a really exciting aspect of the project.
I have already been seeking sponsorship – some of which has been successful and some of which hasn’t.
LEE Filters are sponsoring the project and were one of the first on board. They sent me a few filters to use with my Canon 5D Mark IV, which I am hugely grateful for – they’ll help me improve me landscape shots drastically and, in return, they will feature in the calendar.
I am still seeking some sponsorship towards a PC/Mac for photo editing and a calendar producer – if you come across this post and want to help – please contact me. I’ll return any equipment, if appropriate, once the project is finished.
It is an exciting project, which I hope can be as big as possible to raise money for worthwhile charities. It is just a bit of giving back and through my market research, people love a landscape calendar.
The calendars will retail at £10.00 per calendar – featuring 12 images from primarily around the North-East but may feature animals, landscapes, and art. The final images are undecided but I am using the rest of 2018 and half of 2019 to build these images up. Then continue from there!
The aim is, as I’ve said, 100% of the proceeds will go to charity. I can only do that through sponsorship, free calendar production, equipment and so on.
I hope you enjoy following my journey and this project!
